Why The Alameda Writers Group?
The Alameda Writers Group brings together writers, screenwriters, poets, freelancers, producers, directors and educators, building a community where creativity counts.
If you are a creator in any of the written arts, the inspiration and feedback you will receive as a member of AWG is priceless -- we feel that what we charge for membership is an incredible bargain.
Benefits
Your membership will deliver access to the forums, educational materials and networking opportunities, and a personal page on this Web site. Most importantly, you can bring your work to one of our Special Interest Writing Groups ("SIGs") where it will be read, critiqued and tweaked in a friendly, supportive environment by working
professionals - a service that might cost you hundreds, perhaps thousands of dollars if sought in other venues.
Be Part of the Power
Meet good, creative, helpful and positive people...
build mutually beneficial relationships...
be a part of a creative force which is expanding and re-inventing creative writing while helping to define new directions and trends...

How to Join
To sign up as a "guest" member (i.e., Web site membership only), click on the "Sign Up" link in the welcome box in the upper left.
The website and attendance at our monthly general membership meetings ("GMMs") are free. However, to participate in activities like our year-end "Pitch-Fest," attend our monthly special interest group meetings ("SIGs"), participate in our cash-prize writing contests, or get involved in any of our really special activities (writing and producing movies, plays, group anthologies, group readings, etc.) you need to be a dues-paying member.
Dues are $60 annually and can be paid here by clicking on the PayPal or credit card icons below. Additionally, you can purchase your membership in person at one of our monthly GMMs, or at our monthly West Valley Screen & Fiction SIG. I had someone who is a mathematician figure the membership cost for me: $60 a year means your membership is only costing you $5 a month! Imagine that! For only $5 a month you get to hang with some really cool people and learn millions of dollars worth of stuff (< hyperbole).
Four ways to pay for AWG Membership (only $60 per year):
